Unconventional Uses...

I've been finding fun ways to use my toys lately- sometimes, it's not necessarily the way that the toy was intended to be used. It sure makes it a lot of fun, though!

Did you know that my toy-chest can be a fun place to play peek-a-boo?
Or, that I can act like a roaring lion if I flip my toy-table over and climb on it?
I am a creative little boy!

Reading with Mommy: Animal Sounds!

Over the past few weeks, I have loved reading books more and more! I pick up a book, carry it over to whatever adult is around, and hand it to them to read to me.  When I'm playing on my own, I like to hold the book and turn the pages while pointing to and laughing at different pictures. I even try to show my other baby-friends my books.
Here is a video of my Mommy and me looking at an animal book. It has some of my favorite animals in it: a monkey, a lion and a dog! I can tell the difference between them and I like making their animal sounds. Take a look!

Cardboard Box

My Mommy brought up a big cardboard box from our basement! I never knew such a fun toy was hiding down there. My parents and I have been having fun with it ever since. I like to go in the box, open and close the flaps, bang on the top of the box and play peek-a-boo. I love playing with it!

I use my drum sticks to bang on the box. Sometimes, I bang on other things, too. Here is a short clip of my drumming skills.

Mommy's Birthday!

Today is Mommy's birthday! I spent all day with her. Daddy and Grandma helped me shop for Mommy since I can't drive to the store on my own. I got my mom wonderful presents and made her smile all day long! My Mommy and I love spending all-day, every-day together!!

Facing Forward

Since I am so tall, I get to have my car seat facing forward now! It is a whole new view for me and I like looking out the big window instead of at the seat of the car. My Mommy and I get to talk, sing and play games while we drive! I like riding in the car a lot more now that I am facing forward!

Taking Delilah for a Walk

People are often asking my parents how our dog, Delilah, behaves around me. I like to hit her in the face with my shovel, poke at her eyes and chase her around the room; she barely flinches. I think she likes having me around! I always get to watch my parents hold Delilah's leash when we go for walks, so I wanted to give it a try! (Don't worry, Mommy and Daddy were both standing close by in case I got hurt)

Birthdays....

I got to celebrate 3 birthdays yesterday! We had to celebrate Mommy's cousin Danielle's birthday before she went back to college. Since her birthday is two days after Mommy's, we celebrated them both together! I got to hear people at the restaurant sing to them and I tried cheesecake for the first time! Yummy!

Later that day, we had a birthday dinner for Emily! It was lots of fun. She let me taste her cake before it was time to sing. I got purple icing all over my lips and on her face, too!

My First Steps!

I took my first independent steps on Saturday, August 11th! Right before bed time, my parents decided to let me try to walk back and forth between them. Since they didn't know what to expect, they set up the iPad, just in case I did something exciting.  Good thing they did, because I walked!

The video is a little long, but stick with it because I am very proud of myself!

I tried a few more times, but, our dog, Delilah wanted to show off that she knows how to walk, too!

Daddy's Home!

My Daddy has to go to work everyday, and even though I have tons of fun with Mommy, I miss him when he is gone. He usually comes home to visit during lunch time and again later for the night. Delilah usually goes to the window to watch for him around 5:00, so I've been joining her lately. Mommy videoed me when I saw Daddy getting out of the car and coming in the house for the night. I was very happy to see him!

Rainy Day

It was a rainy day today! I didn't like having to be carried under an umbrella and wear my hood on the way to swim class.
But, the day turned around when I had fun at swim class and then I got to watch a new TV show about the Cat in the Hat!

Later, at the grocery store, I couldn't even believe that I was finally allowed to ride in the car-cart!

I really get to drive?!

This is awesome!!

Laughing at Uncle Nick

When I see Uncle Nick, I start laughing before he even does anything silly! We had a slumber party the other night, and he was making me laugh a lot. Here is a little video of my giggles while giving him high-fives; my cheeks were stuck in a smile!

My 1-year Doctor Check-Up

I had my one-year-old doctor check-up yesterday. I am a healthy, growing boy! I liked to tear the paper off of the doctor's table, crumple it into a ball and throw it at him while saying, "oh, no!" It was so silly. One of the nurses told me that I was her favorite patient!
Here are my new stats:
Weight: 23 pounds 12 ounces
Height: 30.5 Inches
I had fun at the doctor's office!

Itsy Bitsy Spider

During snack time yesterday, my Mommy and I played the Itsy Bitsy Spider game. She sang the song and did the motions and I watched in amusement, as usual. This time, I decided that I wanted to try, too! While still eating my Goldfish crackers, I tried to dance along to the song with her! I'm learning the motions just by watching her; I've almost got it!

BOOKS!

Until now, I always thought books were things for Mommy or Daddy to read to me. If I got a hold of them on my own, I would throw them as far as I could and sit and enjoy the 60-some books scattered around me.
Lately, I've been interested in the pictures in the books and have fun looking at them on my own!

My Kind of Shopping!

I don't mind going shopping with Mommy; I get to try new foods and look at a lot of different people. Sometimes, I just let Mommy do her thing and relax. Now, this is my kind of shopping!!
